Education Department to investigate the installation of All-Köns toilet at Colorado High School

The US Department’s Ministry of Education for Civil Rights has launched an investigation of Denver Public Schools to “discriminate against its female students” after the district converted a women’s toilet to a gender facility, the office announced on Tuesday.

The installation of the bathroom at East High School, with a student body of more than 2,000, now has an “exclusive toilet for male students and no toilet for female students on the second floor,” according to the office.

“The worrying report that Denver Public School’s district denied female students a toilet comparable to their male counterparts seems to be directly violating civil rights for the district’s female students,” said acting assistant secretary for civil rights Craig Trainor in a statement. “Let me be clear: It’s a new day in America, and under President Trump, OCR will not tolerate discrimination of any kind.”

On one letter Trainor addressed the district’s superintendent and said the investigation will investigate whether Denver public schools discriminated against students on the basis of gender by installing all-gender toilet as a potential failure to comply with department IX, which the district is subject to as recipients of federal financial support from the Ministry of Education.

The letter also quotes locally NBC Affiliate KUSA’s reporting The fact that the district has installed two other multi -hall salary toilets in the Denver School of the Arts and CEC Early College.

“It has never been seen before the Civil Rights office to initiate its own investigation, to a single bathroom, as a result of local media coverage rather than in response to a submitted complaint that requested their commitment,” Denver Public Schools said in a statement.

The district said that the toilet was added as a result of a “student -led process” to earn “all students, including those who may feel uncomfortable in gender -specific facilities.”

The toilet with sex has a booth with 12 feet high partitions, and the faculty of high school has developed a plan to “monitor and monitor” it “just as they do with everyone else”, according to the district.

In a message sent to parents in the community before the toilet opening, the school district stated that the other fun woman’s toilet was chosen for the transformation because additional “structural makeup” in men’s toilet, including urinals, would have required removal and pressed costs “outside the construction budget.”

The district added that if it receives additional financing, the decision to convert the men’s toilet would also be considered.

Those who do not feel comfortable using the new gender toilet have been encouraged by the district to use a toilet on another floor or single toilet on the second floor.

In his letter, Trainor said that the introduction of the investigation is “not in itself proof of errors” and requests for “access to data and personnel” will be submitted this week.
