Local students participate in 3rd annual Life Skills Talent Show

Students from 8 local school districts participated in a talent show while they helped raise money for their prom.

The third annual Life Skills Talent Show took place on Thursday morning at Westmont Hilltop and contained students from Westmont, Johnstown, Richland, Forest Hills, Windber, Conemaugh Township, Greater Johnstown Career and Technology Center and AIU8.

The event not only shows its talents, but also helps to raise money for Life Skills prom for expenses such as decorations and a place.

Students said that the talent show is also a way to help children socialize and feel included.

12th class Melia Zagorski said: “It makes everyone feel valued and included, and that makes everyone so much happier. It’s a great way to give back to our school and just make our school a better place.”

12th grade Lyza Johnson said: “It means a lot to the kids. The kids will see you in the corridor and be happy and come up to you and hug you. It makes them feel very happy.”

The Talent Show is organized by students and staff in the school’s Hope Club and helps others stand out.
