NJ Weather: Messy mix of snow, freezing rain, ice in forecast for Wednesday evening

Forecasters track the potential of one winter Storm Wednesday evening to Thursday which may include a wintry mix of rain, freezing rain and snow for New Jersey.

Most of the rainfall is expected along and northwest of Interstate 95 corridor, according to National Weather Service

Snowfall’s totals are expected to be low, but the “sloppy mix” can cause icy conditions for drivers, says the weather service.

More than a tenth of an inch ice is expected in Hunterdon and Warren county, says the weather service.

A period of freezing rain is also possible Thursday morning, especially for areas northwest of Interstate 287.

Accuweather.com Is also a warning for possible ice formation that creates slippery conditions on roads for Thursday morning before a transition to rain.

Periods of rain are expected for the rest of Thursday with heights in the upper 40s to the low 50’s.

On Monday, Highs will reach the low 50’s in large parts of the state during a mixture of sun and clouds after a chilly start to the day.

Tuesday will also be dry, but it will be windy and maybe not as mild. Highs will mainly be in the mid -40s with some South Jersey spots along Jersey Shore that affect 50.

There is another potential storm this weekend, although it is far too soon for details, says the weather service. Rain and snow are among the possibilities.
