Casaging: Deboer has his Robin back, can Ryan Grubb make it work on Alabama?

This is an opinion column.

Ryan Grubb has been here before.

Three years.

Three Alabama -Offensive coordination jobs.

Two accepted.

Will this Stick?

The assistant coach that Nick Saban persecuted two years ago, reportedly rejected an offer of the possibility of being his last offensive coordinator in 2023. It was one of the eyebrow -raising moments that spoke to where we were on the timeline and perhaps sustaining how close the Saban was to Its end.

But Grubb held on to the head coach with which he had through the rankings from the rear roads in Sioux Falls to the top of the college game. He was a cale Deboer guy, enough to follow him to Tuscaloosa in January last year to accept the gig he rejected a year earlier.

However, it didn’t last long.

A few weeks after making the move east, he made Homer Simpson’s dad meme And made a U-turn for Seattle.

Again, he had an offer better than the Alabama -offensive coordinator’s position. He was on his way to NFL and the same job with Seahawks. It was not without a precedent since Steve Sarkisian famous only spent a few weeks that Alabamas OC 2017 before Falcons scooped him for the same job.

Like the Sarkisian in Atlanta, Grubb was kicked after an NFL cup of coffee.

And also as sark, He came back to Tuscaloosa After being dumped in the big leagues.

It worked pretty well for the last guy.

And while we do not pretend as Grubb goes into a crime that starred like the one that Sarkisian found in 2019, he has an opportunity to do something rare. It has been a while since an Alabama crime really limped to the finish line for a season so he has a shot at a mini-rehab of both his reputation and the tide.

You know if he stays on this time.
