Delhi Val 2025: What is open, what is closed on Election Day February 5

The Delhi government explained a holiday on Wednesday, February 5 – the date earmarked to vote for the election in the Delhi Assembly 2025 – with the goal of increasing the voter turnout. When it comes to voting, it will be implemented in a phase in the capital and the results are expected to be released on February 8.

The holiday includes all governments and privately owned companies throughout the city. However, Metro and other public transport services will remain in business as usual.

What is closed?

All schools and colleges in the national capital will remain closed on February 5 to enable a smooth facilitation of the voting process. Some of the educational institutions may also remain closed on the day before the vote as they also work as Vilocentra.

In accordance with the guidelines from the Election Commission, liquor stores and licensed premises will also remain closed from 18.00 on February 3 to February 5.

What is open?

Services such as Delhi Metro and DTC buses will also remain operational in the national capital. Other important services such as hospitals and medical stores continue to function normally.

Retail, grocery stores and restaurants are likely to stay open as well.

Delhi Metro has revealed that its services will start early at 4 o’clock on Election Day, by train running every 30 minutes until 06:00, at what time regular services will begin.
