China beats us customs tied to fentanyl, calls move baseless – the world

China has made relentless efforts and has gained significant progress in its battle against fentanyl and other illegal drugs, and it is basic for the United States to use the fentanyl issue to justify customs increases, says officials and experts.

China has some of the most strictly and most implemented implemented drug control policy in the world, a general security ministry, also added that China, also a state party to three UN drug conventions, has cooperated actively with USA and other countries to deal with illegal drugs.

Spokesman made the remarks after the United States announced its decision to charge an additional 10 percent extra duties on imports from China, with reference to the Fentanyl issue as a reason.

Spokesman expressed strong dissatisfaction and firm opposition to the reasoning, spokesman said in a statement on Sunday that China has conducted extensive and pragmatic drug control cooperation with the United States in recent years.

Both sides have seen progress in subject planning, intelligence exchange, cracking of specific cases and other areas, said spokesman and listed China’s scheduling of the entire class Fentanyl -related substances in 2019.

The request from the United States was the scheduling a goodwill gesture that was made even though there was no large -scale abuse of fentanyl -related substances in China, says spokesman.

The move made China the first country in the world to schedule the entire class of the subjects.

Li Wenjun, professor of People’s Public Security University of China, said by scheduling the entire class, China has placed under strict control production, sales and use of fentanyl -related substances.

The scheduling has effectively directed a variety of “designer drugs”, synthetic drugs with somewhat modified chemical structures invented to escape regulation, Li said.

Since the scheduling, China has not received reports from the United States on seizures of fentanyl -related substances that originate from China, says the spokesman for general security. The United States, on the other hand, has not created a permanent schedule for the entire class class, spokesman said.

China and the United States increased their cooperation to fight illegal drugs last year, which saw a series of meetings between both sides.

In November last year, delegations from the two countries participated in the 10th bilateral drug intelligence meeting in Shanghai.

During the meeting, they had in -depth exchanges and agreed to strengthen dialogue and communication on the basis of mutual respect, management of differences and mutually favorable collaboration, according to the Office of China National Narcotics Control Commission.

In January 2024, the two countries launched the working group China-US Countercotics, which had their first senior officials six months later in Washington.

China has also strengthened its regulation of illegal drugs over the past year. It added as many as 46 substances in its controlled drug list in July and regulated seven chemicals in September.

China is ranked among the best countries in the world in its response to drug -related crimes, but the issue of fentanyl abuse in the United States cannot be solved by just relying on China improving its own drug regulation policy, says Li.

Wang Ruiyuan, associate professor of criminal investigation Police University of China, said that the root of the US fentanyl crisis lies in its long -term drug abuse.

Wang, a researcher in anti-drug studies, said that China, who has not seen great-scale abuse of fentanyl, has shown great sincerity in its collaboration with the United States to address the fentanyl crisis.

The United States, on the other hand, politicizes the issue of drugs and uses it as a “chip” to serve its customs policy, Wang said, and added that the move will damage the basis for its Countercotics collaboration with China.

The question of illegal drugs, including fentanyl, is a challenge for all humanity that requires collaboration between different countries, Wang said, leaving that one will only hamper such cooperation by blaming others for their own problems.
