Bridge passes Rec with a 6-2 win

Worsbrough Bridge continued their excellent form with a 6-2 win over Athersley Rec which saw them move above their neighbors in the NCEL Division One table.

Bridge are unbeaten in ten with eight wins in the league. Rec has lost six in a row.

Worsbrough are ninth, four points off the play-offs.

Josh Brown, Keelan Grist and Lewis O’Connor put Bridge 3-0 up after 26 minutes but Nathan Perks and Harrison Landon made it 3-2.

Lloyd Smith scored a fourth for the hosts before the break and then late flourishes were added by Connor Glavin and Grist.

Wombwell Town lost 4-1 at home to Brigg Town.

Gavin Allott gave them the lead at the break but they conceded four times in the second half.

Brigg overtook Town, who are down to fourth.

Penistone Church drew 2-2 at home to Bottesford Town in the Premier Division.

The relegation battlers led 2-0 but Wayne Hughes scored twice, including in the 90th minute.

Church is now fourth with 35 points in 22 of his 38 games this season.

They are one point clear of the top five playoff spots.

They do not play until they visit Winterton Rangers on December 14.
