Jibba Jabba organizers introduce new partner, new course function

Houghton, Mich. (Wluc) – Jibba Jabba Snowboard returns return to Houghton on Saturday 15 February.

This is the third iteration of the event after a decade -long absence. The snowboarding event in the street sees snowboarders all over the country competing for $ 1,000 cash prices on a Snödurs built on Huron Street. The organizers say they are eager to share some new features for this year’s iteration, including a brand new big partner.

“Red Bull comes in with cash prices for some of the riders,” visiting Keenaw Public Relations & Events Coordinator Jesse Wiederhold.

Wiederhold says Red Bull has participated in the event as an observer in previous years but now takes an active hand in his organization. He notes that the business has a brand new “best stomp” exhibition at the event. 750 $ will be on the way for the best landing in both men’s and women’s categories.

“This is new in the snowboard industry,” Wiederhold continued. “They have done so in other sports. This is the first time Red Bull will do its heavy stamp competition in a snowboarding competition. “

The organizers also strive to make the course more unique this year. According to Jenn Reed, who revived the event three years ago, course builders hope to introduce a new concept to the competitors, “The Mine.”

“Riders will be able to ride over this feature and through this feature,” Reed said. “It’s a bit like an underground mining concept. It will be the biggest attraction for the event. We hope to have some lanterns inside. “

Reeds Gård, Millie Farms, is a partner for this year’s iteration, together with the city of Houghton. The city expects an even greater turnout than last year and says the conditions appear to be favorable.

“Weather will be fine,” said City of Houghton Community & Business Development Director Amy Zawada. “It looks like we have more than enough snow. It’s great that Portage Lake District Library will be open. It’s always a nice little place for people to warm up. “

The event with free to take back returns Saturday, February 15 and starts at 18.00
