CCCME condemns us customs walk, urges dialogue

China’s Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machines and Electronic Products (CCCME) strongly urged the US’s “new customs decision on Chinese goods.

The tariff increase is a violation of the rules for the World Trade Organization, which not only fails to solve the US own financial issues, but also undermines normal cooperation between the two pages, the Chamber said in its statement issued on Friday.

CCCME warned that the new customs could destabilize delivery chains, increase costs and introduce broader negative effects on the commercial system, undermine the strong trade relations and mutual benefits that the two countries have long had.

“Mutual benefit and win-win cooperation are the right ways forward for development,” pronounced the chamber and urged the American side to abandon protectionist politics and participate in a constructive dialogue to jointly maintain an open, fair and stable international trade environment.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration announced another 10 percent customs on all imports from China and increased existing customs. The move has so far triggered an extensive opposition both domestically in the US and internationally.
