MORE: Where every louise song and album has mapped in the UK

Louise, confession is finally out. How are you?

It’s so nice to be so excited that people hear something. I’ve been living with these discs for a while now; I have never played my own album so much in my entire life. I get into the car and put on my own album, I don’t care what anyone else thinks!

It can sometimes be difficult to get excited about your own projects – you can think about it and worry if everyone else will like it. But actually, actually I Just like it! Finally, people will hear that.

It is hard to believe that it has been five years since heavy love. When did work on this record start?

I started working on it over a year ago. It has been a good year in creation, then we went in and added the strings; slowly build all layers. I only got the mastered version about a month ago and I absolutely rinse it!

I always wanted to create a new album. You start getting into the studio, but you never really know how it goes. You have an idea of the style of music and where you want it to go, but it doesn’t always work that way. Sometimes it takes a while to get the foot on the gas and find your mojo; But this album just happened. It had that momentum.

I worked with such amazing people. I would have a pinch moment for a few days when I was in the studio and worked with such good songwriters and producers and thought “How’s this thing that happened so late in my career?”

Continue then, who have you been working on this time?

Jon Shave, who just did all Charli XCX stuff and got a Grammy, Wayne Hector, Anya Jones, Mnek; The list continues. Literally everyone who has made hit music over the past four or five years is on this album, it’s super exciting. It has been a dream team; I feel very lucky to have worked with the people I have worked with.

Louise Redknapp Confession Song Single Album Interview

Why was confession the perfect track to launch this new era with?

Confession really sets up the album; It is a real deviation from everything I have done before. What I really wanted to do, from Get-Go, is to let people know that there is a departure in the sound.

I think you can go two ways when you have had the career I’ve had; You can continue to do what you know fits a certain fanbase or you can continue to push forward. I don’t want to be a Heritage Act. I don’t want to be a nostalgic act. I am so proud of these songs, but I want to continue. There is no reason why I cannot be up to date and make songs that are at the moment.

Confession created that sound. It has it electro-pop vibe, it is a bit naughty lyric. It’s fun and optimistic. I describe it almost like a train – it just continues to push through. This song really puts up a new sound and different direction on this album.

It goes without saying that the big pop girls kill it right now. This record feels perfect time …

I know it too. I feel it would have been difficult to have the confidence to think that I can come out with a new sound, a few years back, and still create something contemporary that can sit in a world of people in their twenties to people in their seventies ; ‘Especially as a woman. We are in a time where we so accept. As long as the disc is good, as long as you have found your moment and your sound.

I think a lot of it comes from working with amazing people. One thing I wanted to do on this album was working with people very current, at the moment and before what happens; They decide where music goes.

Do you have a favorite track on the new album?

I love to love myself more right now, but I go through different stages. Sometimes I love to manifest, then I hear the limit and can’t get the “la la” the hook out of my head. My favorite is constantly changing. What is really nice is that there is no song on the album that I do not love, and it does not always happen! Every song on Deluxe – all different versions – I love.

It’s a really nice place to be in as a singer. As someone who has done many albums over the years and has been lucky enough to be at all different levels in the music industry over the years, it is nice to feel so proud of what I can still bring to the table 30 years.

On that, did you ever predict to be in such a place 30 years ago?

Do you know what? No! There have been times in recent years when I never thought I had been here. You never know what will happen in music, there is no rhyme or reason why some things land and blast and others do not. But I never thought this opportunity would come.

I always thought I would create music, because that’s what I do and I always find a way. Did I ever think I would make an album with caliber of people I have made this album with; People who win Grammys and up for Briter? No! But I think it’s proof of the people around me, the people I work with daily and my passion and love for what I do. And a little confidence, really!

Self -confidence, safe, but what stands out is how humble you still are. You are proof that you don’t have to be ad*ckhead to do it in the music industry …

I think I may be more ambitious than comes over. I have been doing this for a long time, and I know what it takes to do well in this industry. You have to be a little fearless and go for it, but you don’t have to be an Arsehole!

One thing that I have learned in the music industry is that in the end it must come from you. Do you want to do it, the passion and the love of it, have a story to tell and something to say. If it doesn’t come from you, I don’t think your career can be as long -lived as you might want it to be.

As an artist-, if it is pop, indie, jazz, hip-hop-must come from you. You have to create that story yourself. Whether it is the words they say, what they carry, how they express themselves; There must be a authenticity for it.

Louise Redknapp Confession

And finally, Lou, your fans call for a new tour. Is it on the 2025 Vision Board?

I would love to. Please, God, if this album does well and there is a hunger I will be on the way! It is definitely on the agenda, 100 percent. I feel that I owe myself too. It will be for everyone who supports me over the years, but I also want that moment for me. I want to come out and put on a fantastic show.

“Making Mighty Hoopla gave me a real taste of coming back there with dancers, choreography and a big stage show. I really want the opportunity to do it at the end of the year. This album is so good for it!
