Trump 2nd Term Live updates: Final vote on RFK Jr.’s nomination scheduled

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul replied to the national lawyer Pam Bondi’s claim on Wednesday evening that the Ministry of Justice took legal action against the state of New York over its alleged opposition to President Donald Trump’s illegal immigration.

In the statement, Hochul said that Bondi “marched in front of the TV cameras for a dramatic media briefing to announce that she submitted charges against the New York State related to our immigration laws” earlier that day. But it turned out to be “smoke and mirrors” because DOJ actually submitted what Hochul called “a routine civil act on a law adopted in 2019 that has been maintained by the courts time and time again.”

“Here are facts: Our current laws allow federal immigration officials to access any DMV database with a legal order. It is a common sense that most New Yorkers support. But there is no way that I let federal agents or Elon Musk’s shady Dogge Operation, gaining free access to the personal data of all New Yorker in the DMV system as 16-year-old children who learn to run and other vulnerable people, ”the statement continued.

Calling the action a “worthless, publicity -driven trial” predicted Hochul that it would be a “total failure.”

“Let me be clear: New York doesn’t support,” she said.
