Cavaliers refused to buy several key pieces for hawks, per report

There are two ways to look at Cleveland Cavaliers Trade for De’andre Hunter: The player they got back and the pieces they gave up to get him.

In the end Atlanta hawks Got Caris Levert, Georges Niang, three other rounds and two pick changes for his esteemed wing.

It is not surprising that it was not the only pieces that were discussed at the trade. But there were some assets that Cavaliers were clearly unwilling to give up.

Per Chris Fedor from Cleveland.comHawks asked Cavaliers for their first round and/or Jayon Tyson in Cleveland’s Hunter. As Fedor notes, “Cavs was not willing” to move any of them.

Tyson has not found a consistent role with Cavaliers this season, but there has been a lot to like with him when the 22-year-old has been on the floor.

With Cavaliers facing serious financial restrictions in the coming years, does not need to include Tyson in this trade and knowing that they still have him on his rookie contract is a huge gain for the team’s future.

A draft election is always a game, and who knows what Cavaliers will look like in the 2031 season. But the unknown makes to stick to the election even so much more important, and Altman could achieve it.

As much value as Levert has provided the bench and the veteran leadership that nuclear has given during the season during the season he spent in Clevelands, they were probably not in Franchiset’s plans for two to three years.

Cavaliers now get the wing that makes them legitimate finals challengers this season (if they were not already before) and retain one of the very few first rounds that belong to them.
