Polar vortex to get brutal blasting of arctic air after our 2 snow systems

We get two accumulated snow between Wednesday and Saturday. Then marching a blast of true Arctic air into Michigan again.

The next few weeks will seal the deal on making this a real Michigan winter. There will be no form of historical winter, but at the end of February most of us will probably have received enough of it.

A big reason is that we have another lobe in the polar vortex that will switch south to long southern Canada. This lob in the vortex will run very cold air to Michigan on Sunday to the first half of next week.

This next batch of cold air actually has an easier time to freeze us than mid -January. The reason is that the water temperatures of the large lake have cooled down and do not protect us as much from bitter cold. We also have some ice on the big lakes that make it easier for Arctic air to invade.

Most of us will be five to 10 degrees below zero Tuesday morning.

When will we have a pattern change that kicks out the Arctic air? It looks like the last days of February we jump up to a normal cold with afternoons around 30 degrees.

Although we are in the heart of the winter cold for the next two weeks, it really won’t be long before the temperature is about 40 degrees possible. It probably happens in mid -March.
