Captain America: Brave New World Review: “Anthony Mackies Cap earns its stars and stripes in this uneven, un-mcu thriller”

Captain America: Brave New World Waste some time to get their points. Away is the usual Marvel Studios Open fanfare and, instead, a black and white logo that suggests a no-nonsense, back-to-base thriller intended to reintroduce MCU in after a phase filled with multi-world mixture and gratuitious komos.

While the fourth Captain America movie does not really do well on its abundant potential, it finally establishes Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson as an Avengers-Lader-in-turning. After all, it has been six long years since an older Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) passed the torch in Avengers: Endgame.

Disney Plus series The Falcon and Winter Soldier showed early promise, but otherwise the character (and Mackie) has waited in the wings of a chance to practice the shield and prove full -time on the big screen. It is an opportunity he takes hold here with both hands.

By Brave New World’s Heaving Ensemble of villains and JOKEKAPLA, it is Esposito’s sidewinder that is emblematic for both its greatest strengths and acquaintances MCU weaknesses. Most exciting for MCU Diehards is the look of Tim Blake Nelson’s Samuel Sterns/Leader. Previously a side problem in 2008’s incredible Hulk, Captain America: Brave New World seems to enjoy making Marvel’s most forgotten – and largely oblivion – entry relevant again.

While Stern’s only ever works on the outskirts, his cerebral, hands-off-approach at least Sam’s cap from a whips smart, wise hero to someone who can sniff out clue the. It is a convincing foil for Sam to bounce, despite their chalk-and-cheese dynamics that never really sparkling over the years of large villains from Captain America’s Cinematic Past.

Of course, it works in Tandem with Ford’s “Thunderbolt” Ross (here is reworking after former actor William Hurt). In fact, Ford’s inclusion raises the magnetic presence that, Mackie aside, brave the new world so desperately requires. Ford is fantastic here as an incredible president under the press, with the threat from Red Hulk, which also penetrates great throughout Brave New Worlds somewhat pulling two hours Runtime. Although Ford brings with him the type of star power that MCU has been missing since Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark snapped off this deadly coil (and maybe speaking to his surprising Doctor Doom comeback in next year’s Avengers: Doomsday).

Despite the basic work laid down by the opening act of the new Marvel movie, the tight, drumming plotting will eventually knit. When the conspiracy has nothing, it also makes a brave new world. What begins as a significant detour from typical MCU prices is quickly transformed into the winter soldier a little in the rear half, a lithany of action sequences on auto-pilot and semi-baked monologues about world-saving philosophies. Even the highly proven Red Hulk vs. The Captain America collision does not really live up to its heavyweight invoicing, despite a serum-free Captain America that can become bruises and abused often nudging brave new world into exciting narrative territory.

Still, you can’t help but applaud the effort. After the fox -filled exaggerated deadpool and Wolverine, this refreshing simple action proves again the greatest strength of the MCU is in its formability. A brave new world, then? Not quite. But it is a step in the right direction.
