On the podcast, Allen said that people often think she “hates” her children, which she does not. She explained that her decision to seek treatment was with them in mind.

“I absolutely love my children and I am in a situation now where I really have to be my strongest self for them. And I felt it became harder and harder for me to be able to show up for them in the way they need me, ”she said. “It was a really big decision to have to leave them for a few weeks to go and focus on myself, but in the end it was for them. Yes, it is for me, but it is for them so that I can get us through this bit. I needed some help to do it. ”

Allen added that she never wanted her daughters to feel like they had to “support me”, because none of her struggle is their fault, and it’s her job to make them “feel safe and secure.”
