Take a behind-the-scenes look at ‘Yellowstone’ Season 5, Part 2

The the show’s official YouTube channel posted a behind-the-scenes look at how the cast and crew prepared for Season 5.

Why did Kevin Costner leave ‘Yellowstone’?

“I just wanted to let you know that I will not be returning,” Costner said in a video posted to his Instagram and social media accounts the same day the Paramount Network announced a Nov. 10 premiere date for the final “Yellowstone” episodes. .

In an interview the day after its viral video release, Costner told USA TODAY he was tired of hoping for a “Yellowstone” return when asked about the series during his long media tour to promote his Western film franchise Horizon.

Media inquiries about John Dutton’s return was the “overwhelming question that would come up in almost every interview,” Costner said.

“Just with all the questions that were asked (about ‘Yellowstone’), the more I thought about it … I just wanted to say that this is a departure point,” Costner said. “Whatever I had hoped for maybe wasn’t in the cards. I don’t want to keep saying, ‘Well, I hope I can do that.’ It’s driven to a place where I don’t think that’s realistic anymore.”

Costner said there was no specific plot in his return talks with Paramount Studios and executive producer Taylor Sheridan to set the impromptu video in motion. He didn’t want to hold out for optimism that wasn’t there.

“I just wanted to get it done,” Costner said of making the video. “I’m not a machine trying to figure this out. But I’m not a person who leaves people high and dry.”
