At the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Ranbir Kapoor spoke about his daughter Raha and her early exposure to music. He revealed that the first song he played for her was his grandfather Raj Kapoor’s timeless classic, ‘Kisi Ki Muskurahaton Pe’. Talking about what makes the song meaningful, Ranbir said during a conversation with noted director Rahul Rawail, “If you hear the lyrics of the song, it’s so simple, and it’s definitely a great philosophy to live one’s life by.”

Ranbir Kapoor also emphasized the need for environmental awareness and the role of artists in spreading it. As a father, he shared his worries about the future, saying, “I’m a father and I have to think about my child and what the world will look like for her after so many years. As people from film and as artists, it’s our moral responsibility to making movies that entertain but also educate people but also…I think knowledge is such a big thing that we have to put out there.”

Asked if there was a film of his that he would have liked his grandfather to direct, Ranbir said, “Since he did Bobby and was always great with love stories, I would really like to see him direct Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani and celebrate music and the characters.” He also humorously admitted that he would not dare attempt to direct any of his grandfather’s films, adding: “They would turn out to be terrible, just like my short films from acting school, which I have buried and made sure no one can see.”

On the work front, Ranbir Kapoor is busy with Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, in which he stars alongside Sai Pallavi and Yash. He is also set to team up with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Love and War, starring Vicky Kaushal and Alia Bhatt.
