People left shocked by woman’s ‘wild’ Wetherspoons hack as they say ‘I didn’t expect that’

This is the hilarious – and very British – moment a woman brought her own gravy granules to Wetherspoons.

Vicki and her friends were having a girls’ night out at Spoons in Derbyshire when their friend Joanne left them in fits of laughter.

In a video that has received almost 300,000 views, Joanne delighted her friends by whipping some Bisto sauce granules out of her bag.

She then ordered some hot water, mixed her sauce in a mug and poured it all over the chips.

Joanne has unexpectedly become an internet sensation, with people dubbing her ‘iconic’ and a national ‘hero’.

Writing on her TikTok account, Vicky said: ‘That time we went out to dinner and she brought her own sauce! It’s never a normal girl’s night with me and my friends.’

In it videoJoanne explained that she didn’t like Spoon’s chicken gravy, so she had taken matters into her own hands.

She pulled out some sauce granules in a zip lock bag and explained, ‘I brought my own sauce!’

She mixed her sauce in a mug while licking her lips, before her friends backed away in horror.

She justified her decision by mentioning that she had bought Bisto best sauce granules, rather than the usual alternative.

Joanne has since gone viral for her savvy thinking, with people hailing her as “an example of English culture”.

They wrote: ‘Improvise, adapt, overcome. this is ingenuity at the elite level’;

‘We listen and we don’t judge’;

“I didn’t expect the granule itself. I thought she had a flask or something’;

‘Woman after my own heart! What a hero!’;

‘As a northerner. I applaud this.’

It comes after Sir Cliff Richard shared his recipe for the “world’s best brown sauce” – but chefs said it sounded “absolutely disgusting”.

The 84-year-old pop star eschews the traditional method of mixing juices from a steak with a splash of wine and instead goes for a more unorthodox recipe.

He combines eight bouillon cubes from different flavors – including lamb, chicken, beef and vegetables – with boiling water before adding two chopped fried onions along with teriyaki, soy and Worcestershire sauce.

Sir Cliff has described the sauce as “probably the greatest in the world” and previously cooked it on This Morning.

Former MasterChef Professionals semi-finalist Matthew Ryle said Sir Cliff’s concoction would likely taste “very salty” and need to be “thickened a bit”.

If there’s one thing most Brits can agree on, it’s that gravy is a staple of British culture.

The roast dinner has been a staple of the British diet since as far back as 1485 – with King Henry VII said to have been a proud meat and gravy eater.

But in recent years, the humble bowl has become a much more expensive commodity, with Gen Z Brits now choosing to spend their Sundays eating luxury lunches of fillet steak, bone marrow gravy and lobster tail.

Gone are the days when a classic portion of meat and two vegetables could be found in almost any British pub for under £20.

Young people are now paying upwards of £70 for Yorkshire puddings, mash and all the usual (and not so usual) trimmings.
