Delhi airport first in India to connect 150 destinations

Delhi Airport has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first airport in India to connect 150 destinations and a preferred gateway for passengers. Thai AirAsia X has launched direct flights between Delhi and Bangkok-Don Mueang (DMK), marking the 150th destination connected to the Delhi airport. The route will operate with Airbus A330 aircraft with a 2x weekly frequency, increasing to 4x per week in mid-January 2025.

In a statement, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) said it has become the first airport in the country to connect 150 destinations. Over the years, Delhi Airport has added more than 20 exclusive international destinations, including Phnom Penh, Bali Denpasar, Calgary, Montreal, Vancouver, Washington Dulles, Chicago O’Hare, Tokyo Haneda, etc.

“Of all long-haul destinations from India, 88 percent of destinations are connected from Delhi and 56 percent of all weekly long-haul flights departing from India operate from Delhi. “Nearly 50 percent (42 percent will be exact) of long-haul passengers from India chose Delhi Airport as its gateway,” it said. The airport handles about 1,400 flight movements daily.

“Over the past decade, the airport has experienced a 100 percent increase in transfer passengers, cementing its position as a leading transit hub in South Asia.
