Preston Bus announces changes to more than a dozen city services

“With this in mind, we have also reviewed our network of services to ensure our business is relevant to our customers’ needs.

“We would like to hear your views on proposed changes to our bus network in Preston.”

All Preston Bus changes planned, by service number

6 – Minor timetable changes planned

8 – Sunday evening journeys are scrapped, the last bus will leave at 6.40pm from Preston and return at 6.53pm from Moor Nook. Minor timetable changes are also planned.

16 – Increased service on a Monday to Saturday, every ten minutes. Journeys beyond Preston Bus Station to and from the railway station are withdrawn.

19/20/19(A) – Journeys on service 20 will now be numbered 19A and journeys currently serviced as service 19A will be renumbered 19S. Mon-Fri AM peak, it will now be another trip
against Royal Preston Hospital due to customer demand.

23 – During weekday mornings an extra journey is introduced between Preston and Fulwood ASDA

31 – Currently the proposed route change in the Savick/Lea area is not scheduled to start, but Lancashire County Council is working towards this becoming available later in 2025.

A spokesperson for Preston Bus said of the 31 change: “A few years ago we revised the route of service 31 so that it no longer serves Ainsdale Drive in Savick and Thorntrees Avenue, Thornpark Drive, Hawthorn Crescent, Parkthorn Road, Campion Drive in Lea. This was because badly parked cars on these side roads in the residential areas often meant that buses had to be diverted.

“Since doing so, we have been under pressure from the community, including local councillors, to reinstate the previous route. We have said we will, provided the LCC installs parking restrictions at key hotspots to facilitate this. LCC motorways work currently with plans to introduce these restrictions but these will not be done in time for March.”

35 – Minor timetable changes

43/44/48 – Journeys on duty 44 will now go to Cottam and on duty 48 journeys will now go to Royal Preston Hospital. Service 43 Sunday is slightly rescheduled as a result.

46 – Diverted via Tom Benson Way and no longer serves Tanterton and Ingol. During the last months of Preston Bus’ operation before being handed over to Vision Bus, as Blog Preston reported last month.
