Houston – KPRC 2 has received a new list from the Texas Education Agency containing the names of 60 new Texas teachers who are currently under investigation in a teacher-The certification fraud schedule that enabled unqualified teachers to work in local school districts.

Of the new items, 24 of them are from eight different school districts in the Houston area, including nine new teachers from Houston ISD, five from CY-Fair ISD and three from Aldine ISD and Fort Bend ISD.

Five teachers have been formally accused of their involvement in the scandal, including Vincent Grayson, 57, the former main boys’ basketball coach at Booker T. Washington High School I Houston ISD which was accused as an organizer of the cheating system.

We first broke the news in October after the then Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg announced the charge against five people accused of participating in the cheating program.

The alleged system, reportedly worth more than a million dollars, involved forgery of references to secure teaching positions for individuals who did not meet the certification requirements, according to the district lawyer’s office.

DA’s office estimated that Ringens Kingpin had collected more than $ 1 million from the system.

Court documents show that an estimated 430 tests were taken fraud and more than 210 unqualified teachers were certified in this system, which is now instructing or previously taught on Texas Public schools.

The scandal is believed to have affected several school districts in the area, which leads to increased concerns about educational standards and general security.

According to TEA, the districts associated with these teachers do not mean that it is their current place of employment but is based on their place of employment at the end of the school year 2022-2023 or 2023-2024.

Back in December Tea told Tea KPRC 2’s Bryce Newberry that they listed the school districts had been announced about the investigators investigated from the first edition.

In December, Tea also said that it was completely expected that further investigations would be opened as the agency will receive more information. The new names are a result of these follow -up surveys.

The following suspects who are charged in the system have been identified:

• Vincent Grayson57, Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Booker T. Washington High School in Houston ISD for almost 20 years. Grayson was accused as an organizer of the cheating system.

• Tywana Gilford Mason51, the former director/VA Certification Ombudsman at the Houston Training and Education Center. Mason’s role as Test Proctor allowed her to keep the proxy schedule undetected.

• Nicholas Newton35, an assistant principal at Booker T. Washington High School in Houston ISD. Newton is alleged to have participated in the program as the Proxy tester.

• Darian Nikole Wilhite22, a proctor at Tactix that is said to have taken bribes to let Newton act as a test proxy.

• Lashonda Roberts39, an assistant principal at Yates High School in Houston ISD. Both charges against Robert’s were dismissed on February 4, 2025.
