Sagging event to throw spotlight on drug abuse and prevention

The public is encouraged to participate in an eye-comprehensive sign-wiping event on Friday to raise awareness of overdoses, addiction and prevention.

Hawaii Island Fentanyl Task Force to organize this event, which will occur at the same time in several places at 16, the goal is to send a message about hope, love and reminder for those lost to abuse.

“This event is about more than just waving signs. It’s about showing those who fight that they are not alone, ”says Dr. Hannah Preston Pita, CEO of Big Island Substance Abuse Council, in a press release. “We want to train our society about the available resources, honor those we have lost and gathered together in support and aloha.”

The residents are encouraged to join the appointed Hawaii Island seats at. 16.00 The places are:

– Hilo, Kanoelehua Ave (Fronting Walmart parking space);

– Kona Makai, Queen Ka’ahuman Hwy (near the Mormon Temple);

– Kona Mauka, Hawaii Belt Road (Fronting Randy’s Huli Chicken);

– Waimea, Ikua Purdy Monument (Front of Parker Ranch Center).

Participants are welcome to bring their own characters with positive and supportive messages or use them that the working group will provide on site.

This initiative is supported by Hawaii Island Fentanyl Task Force, Big Island Substance Abuse Council, which goes home Hawaii and recovery of Hawaii – everyone works together to create a future free from the devastation of addiction and overdose.

According to the press release, with addiction that affects countless lives, this event acts as a lighthouse for awareness and action, and reminds society that prevention, treatment and recovery are possible.

Volunteers will keep signs showing encouragement notifications, support and reminder to promote conversations of changes and break the stigma around substance use disorders.
