The original Annabelle in the real Warren cases was actually a soft, handmade style Raggedy Anndock with a sweet triangular nose, rosy cheeks and light red yarn hair. She didn’t look scary at all. Her design in Emerging However, the universe makes it clear that this doll is perfect for demonic possession.

She has a cracked porcelain face, bulging glassy eyes and protruding cheeks. Her eyes are framed with black shadow, and the lines in her smile are deeply grooved, which makes her look like a creepy mix of a little girl and an old woman.

What is really scary about Annabelle is that she can control everything around her: lamps flicker, shadows appear and the doors crack on her own. Sometimes she shows up in unexpected places or gradually turns on her head. Director James Wan masterfully creates the slow burning horror that makes the audience careful about what she will do next.

When you see her, you know that something scary is just around the corner – whether it is a demon, someone’s death or the unhealthy look of the awful nun.
