Thom Yorke team with Mark Pritchard for new song ‘Back in the game’

Debuted Live by Radiohead Singer during his solo tour last year, Pair Share Jonathan Zawada-directed visual for recent collaboration

Thom Yorke Has collaborated with Mark Pritchard for the new single “Back in the Game”, the second collaboration between the Radiohead singer and the electronic artist.

“Back in the game” previously debuted on stage Last year during Yorke’s “Everything” solo tour in Australia and Asia, with the studio version that arrived on Thursday along with a video directed by visual artist Jonathan Zawada, who found inspiration from – of all things – a disco film.

“When I first heard the original demonstration of ‘back in the game’, I was immediately beaten by the impaired baseline that made me think of the final scene of Keep alive Where John Travolta sues cock through the New York streets but I saw it with a more unfortunate overlay, ”Zawada said in a statement.

“Slowly arose a version of the visual around a character that bears a kind of gigantic parade head with a fixed expression of mania stuck on the face, so you could not see if their endless march was one of aggression or celebration. The more I paid attention to the texts, the more information it started to fill in and the overall concept began to form the parade of many characters marched past a building from within which everything was thrown out of a window and into a gigantic bonfire. ”

Zawada continued, “In the end, the film ended up” back in the game “by depicting a kind of blind celebration that civilization slowly deteriorates around it, a kind of development through regression. Overlaid on this is an exploration of how and where we choose to place value in our collective cultural expression and how we collectively confront major cultural changes during the 2000s. “

“Back in the game” marks the second time Yorke and Pritchard have released a track together: They have previously been connected in 2016 for “Beautiful people“Off Pritchard’s under The Sun album; Before Pritchard officially remixed radioheads ‘bloom,’ And later reworked Yorke’s solo -song “Not the News.”

For the new single, Pritchard Yorke’s song and fed them through an H910 harmonisator, one of the world’s earliest units for audio-digital effects.

It is unclear whether “Back in the Game”, released via Warp Records, is a one -time or the first ointment in a greater collaboration between the two artists.
