Survey shows that iPhone and Samsung users are not impressed with AI features

For iPhone users, the most popular Apple Intelligence features were writing tools (72%), notification summaries (54%), priority messages (44.5%), cleaning up photos (29.1%), and smart replies in emails and messages (20.9%).

For Samsung user, the most popular Galaxy AI features were Circle to Search (82.1%), Photo Assist (55.5%), Chat Assist (28.8%), Note Assist (17.4%) and Browsing Assist (11.6%). Despite the popularity of these features, most users said they see little or no value.

Are users willing to switch brands for better AI?

The survey also asked whether AI would cause users to switch to another brand. 16.8% of iPhone users (1 in 6) agreed to switch to Samsung for better AI. And 9.7% of Samsung users agreed to switch Apple for better AI. So while some users are open to switching brands for AI, most don’t see the technology as a deal breaker when choosing a phone.

Interestingly, iPhone users cared more about AI than Samsung users. 47.6% of iPhone users said AI was an important factor in their phone purchase decision compared to 23.7% of Samsung users. But even iPhone users weren’t too impressed with AI features.

Will users pay for AI features?

When asked if they would pay for AI services, most said no. 86.5% of iPhone users and 94.5% of Samsung users said no to paying for additional AI services. In contrast, 11.6% of iPhone users and 4% of Samsung users can pay for AI services.

The survey found that many smartphone owners simply do not use AI features. Some said they are not useful, others said they haven’t updated their phones to the latest software. AI accuracy and privacy concerns were also reasons to avoid the technology.

In conclusion, while AI is being added to smartphones more and more, most users don’t think it makes a big difference to their phone experience. iPhone users may care more about AI than Samsung users, but very few from either group want to pay extra or switch brands for better AI features. The survey suggests that AI has a long way to go before it is a must-have feature for smartphone users.
